| 9 Non-Fiction Books about Marie Antoinette by Women Authors
Marie Antoinette has been the subject of fascination for historians and other writers for more than 200 years, and this fascination has resulted in an abundance of non-fiction books; from traditional biographies to selective focuses on Marie Antoinette's legacy and everything in between. To round out this year's Women's History Month, I'd like to share 9 non-fiction books written about Marie Antoinette by women authors.
Marie Antoinette: The Tragic Queen by Dorothy Moulton Mayer
Marie Antoinette: The Journey by Antonia Fraser
The Wicked Queen: The Origins of the Myth of Marie Antoinette by Chantal Thomas
Marie Antoinette: The Last Queen of France by Évelyne Lever
Marie-Antoinette, Daughter of the Caesars: Her Life, Her Times, Her Legacy by Elena Maria Vidal

| Thank you very much for the compilation!
Since I probably won't have time to read them all, can you perhaps recommend one or two specifically?
I was thinking about picking The Wicked Queen - as the title seems to imply, this one deals with the myths and slanders about Marie Antoinette. |

Indeed, The Wicked Queen is an excellent choice! It is a very acurate analysis of the political background that eventually led to the execution of queen Marie Antoinette. Regarding the biographies, I think Madame Bertiere's one is the most interesting. Although it is a little old now it remains highly relevant. Madame Vidal's book is also very documented and acurate. - Marie Antoinette: An Intimate History by Melanie Cleggl
Présentation de c livre : As the youngest daughter of the Empress Maria Theresa of Austria, Marie Antoinette was born into a world of almost unbelievable privilege and power. As wife of Louis XVI of France she was first feted and adored and then universally hated as tales of her dissipated lifestyle and extravagance pulled the already discredited monarchy into a maelstrom of revolution, disaster and tragedy. This illustrated first biography by historian and writer Melanie Clegg takes a fresh look at the story of this most fascinating and misunderstood of queens, exploring her personal tribulations as well as the series of disasters that brought her to the guillotine in October 1793. _________________ Parfois il n'y a pas d'explication.
