The neoclassical Palace of Kuskovo was built by Count Piotr Sheremetev in Kuskovo, that was apart from Moscow in the 18th century. The exterior was made of plastered and painted wooden planks. There is a very large six-column portico at the front of the house.
This beautiful estate received European kings and emperors during the summer. Grandiose balls and parties as well as sumptuous banquets were held.
For main celebrations, Kuskovo could welcome as many as 30 000 guests.
This place has been entirely renovated between 1976 and 1983 according to 1780-90 original plans. It is in an extremely good state of preservation, especially taking into account that it was made of wood.
Nowadays the Russian State Museum of Ceramics is located in the house. The park has become a favorite outing spot for Muscovites and tourists.
