Here is another engraving showing the birth of the Dauphin in 1781.
Queen Marie Antoinette tenderly holds the long-awaited heir to the French throne in her arms; on the left, his proud father, King Louis XVI of France is depicted as a marble bust on a pedestal; a picture of the Empress Maria Theresa of Habsburg (mother of the Queen) by Ducreux can be seen hung on the back wall. This charming scene is surrounded by a heart shaped out of a ribbon, decorated with lilies and roses. In the foreground below (from left to right): an Altar of Love (symbol of eternal love), an anchor (symbol of both hope and steadfastness) and a lovely Phalene, also known as the Continental Toy Spaniel (the breed was a particular favourite of Queen Marie Antoinette).Engraved and published by:François-Xavier Isabey (French, 1738-?)
